The Drowning is a first person action game which takes you to a post-apocalyptic world where strange creatures mercilessly attack, forcing you to retaliate with your weapons.
The game features extremely impressive graphics and has the dignified atmosphere of the post-apocalyptic genre of cinema. The Drowning sucks you into an action-packed adventure for survival!
In The Drowning, your survival depends on constant movement, shooting creatures that attack from all angles.
Between levels, you learn the story behind this apocalyptic world and the ecological disaster that created the creatures you are battling, giving you clues on how to kill them and return to the world that you know.
Each level has various sub-levels, some for defense, and others for survival. In the defense sub-levels, creatures roam freely; in the survival ones, you'll confront them from behind your barricade (a fence) that will eventually fall to your attackers. The creatures that attack can come alone or in groups, throwing objects at you or even bite you. The unpredictability of these creatures is definitely a strong point of the game.
As you earn points and make it through the sub-levels, you'll need to find transport to advance to the next level.
Quite a challenge
There are two challenges in The Drowning. The biggest challenge is, of course, to survive, by constantly moving, watching for creatures and shooting them.
The second big challenge, however, is for the the creators of The Drowning, who have managed to adapt the game for both the iPad and iPhone screen. Although seemingly difficult at first, after the third or fourth sub-level, you'll be familiar with the movements and should be able to combine them smoothly.

The first thing that may catch your attention about The Drowning is the price - so far, the game is free. This is especially surprising considering the spectacular graphics, which compete with any of the large paid-for mobile or console games. It has premium features, for upgrading your weapons and so on, and your overall success will depend on you buying something.
The story is interesting for fans of the genre, although it doesn't offer anything we haven't already seen.
If you like action games, horror stories or apocalyptic universes, you need to install The Drowning on your iPhone or iPad. Either way, The Drowning is a great action game to consider.
